The litter box should be placed in a quiet location that is easy to access.Your cat's sence of smell is better than ours so use unscented litter and clean out urine and faces twice a day.
Don't use too small litter box or too little amount of litter.
Even if your cat is both indoor and outdoor, a litterbox is a good thing to have in case the cat gets trapped in the house or you are not available to let her/him out.
